New laneways and routes to move around the city

600 additional parking spaces

A new plaza for community events

Bringing the sky back to Globe Lane

The Globe has big plans to bring new life to Globe Lane and Globe Way by giving back to the community to rejuvenate this part of the city centre.

One of the key goals is to bring back the greenery to the laneways. Working closely with landscape architects Taylor Brammer the goal is to create an inviting, lush environment that will help to beautify the area and make it more welcoming to pedestrians. An eclectic blend of trees, shrubs and flowers will all be used to create a sense of serenity in the heart of the city.

In addition to adding greenery, a public plaza will be created that will capture the essence of the theatre vibe from its past. This plaza will be a central gathering spot for locals and tourists alike, a space for community events, socialising or gathering. The plaza will be designed to foster a sense of community and bring people together.

To bring more sunlight back to the laneways, The Globe plans to remove overhead walkways that have long been a fixture in the area. This will create a more open and airy feel, allowing the sun to shine down on the streets below.

A new laneway on the western side of the hotel building will connect the city to Globe Way & Burelli Street, further opening the laneways up to the sky and providing a direct visual link from MacCabe park to the Mall.

It will also help to improve the flow of pedestrian traffic, making it easier for people to explore the city centre.
