Globe Lane Businesses Continue to Shape Wollongong’s Nightlife Culture
Globe Lane has firmly established itself as one of Wollongong’s most vibrant hospitality and entertainment precincts, with a growing collection of bars, cafés, restaurants and live music venues helping shape the city’s evolving nightlife scene.
Located alongside The Globe Development, the laneway has become a destination for locals and visitors alike, blending food, music, culture and community into a lively urban experience. The precinct continues to thrive through the success of independent local businesses that have transformed Globe Lane into a bustling hub both day and night.
The Globe Development team says the project has been designed to build upon the area’s existing energy and character, while supporting tourism and strengthening the city centre’s hospitality offering.
“Globe Lane is a thriving and bustling little art precinct at night,” the tour explains. “Fancy little bars, nice restaurants, cafés during the day.”
Among the standout venues is Bevanda Bar, a popular cocktail and nightlife destination that has grown significantly since opening. Operated by two brothers, the venue recently expanded into a second tenancy, reflecting its strong local following and continued popularity.
Just around the corner, La La La’s has become synonymous with Wollongong’s live music scene. Spread across three levels, the venue has spent more than five years hosting live performances, food and entertainment, creating an energetic atmosphere that draws crowds into Globe Lane throughout the week.
For those looking for something sweeter, Kürtősh offers freshly made Hungarian pastries, coffee and desserts, with the venue becoming a favourite stop for visitors exploring the laneway.
One of the precinct’s most celebrated dining destinations is Santino’s, located beside The Globe Development site. Known for its handmade pasta and strong local reputation, the restaurant continues to attract diners seeking high-quality food and atmosphere in the heart of the city.
“At Santino, we’re probably best known for our great pasta,” the restaurant explains in the tour. “We take great pride in being able to make everything that you see on the plate in-house.”
The Prince also remains a cornerstone of the precinct, known for its cocktails and relaxed alfresco setting that makes the most of Wollongong’s coastal climate.
Together, these businesses are helping create a dynamic destination that celebrates local hospitality and community connection. As The Globe Development progresses, Globe Lane is expected to continue evolving into one of Wollongong’s premier entertainment and lifestyle precincts.
